This thread is dedicated to which areas, towns, cities, etc. have current plans, or are moving towards redevelopment of existing or former indoor shopping malls, or with revitalization plans around those malls that may stay open. With the pandemic's negative impact on retail and indoor shopping, which places already have plans in action to update how they approach retail destinations?
Pictures and renderings welcome.
The thread isn't necessarily a tally or race, just a glance into which malls around the country are seeing plans for redevelopment. The thread also isn't just about malls that are closing, but rather can include also successful malls with major plans for expanding mixed use development surrounding it.
I'll start off with the DC metro region, which is probably a leading candidate for the metro area with as many plans as anywhere for such new walkable "town centers", or redeveloped indoor malls into mixed-use development, at least that I'm aware of.
A couple of former mall sites are still flat land now from being torn down in the 2000's, and will eventually see redevelopment plans, the former Landover Mall site, and Capital Plaza both in Maryland.

I'd love to see indoor malls become more popular again. The open-air mall concept is only practical in locations with nearly ideal weather, which leaves out most of the US. I always loved meeting up with friends in a mall, walking around, doing some shopping, lunch. Outdoors? Not so much most days.
Shout out to Lakewood center mall in Lakewood, CA where I'd spend a lot of time at as a teen. Hot Topic was practically my second home. It's a shame that malls across America are dying out.
Successful and fully enclosed malls are becoming quickly more and more "an endangered species."
I've been to both and each are very nice. LA has so many to be honest. It's more of an outdoor urban street scape than a mall, but I love 3rd street in Santa Monica just as much as those. Century City reminds me a lot of developments planned or going up in the DC/NOVA area. Actually the Americana at Brand in Glendale really is probably the closest LA example I can think of to the thread topic, and is super nice.
My question more specifically though is what outdoor malls are in the works, or planned developments are coming for new indoor mall "redevelopment"? Into either an entirely new retail/ mixed use space, or the continued existence of that indoor mall, but being surrounded by new mixed used development with more retail involved. The Grove and Century City have been around a number of years now.
So examples like this are adding retail, and walkable retail space surrounding an existing major suburban mall with surface parking surrounding it. The mall is alive and thriving well, there's just additions being made around the exterior.

Can't believe I left this out of the OP, but another DC area example would be Ballston Quarter in Arlington that's already been redeveloped on the exterior and interior, with hundreds of adjacent apartment towers built in the last few years. There's an existing Macy's still that will be torn down for a new mixed-use high rise apartment building above more retail. The other indoor portions of the Ballston Mall are still open and active.
I hate open malls so much. I really refuse to go to them unless I’m in CA or FL.
Neither Boston nor Baltimore has many dead malls. ‘Mall culture’ is pretty strong here So I’ll sit this thread out.
The only dead mall in the Baltimore Area is Westminster Town Mall. Marley Station was kinda dead the last time that I wenr there, but that was years ago. I miss Owings Mills Mall, which was probably most similar Columbia in the inside; while looking almost exactly like Marley Station on the outside. Towson is falling off slightly. That malls is supposed to be our KOP or Tysons, but I'm seeing a lot of cheap boutiques opening up, plus the luxury wing is about 80% vacant.
