Back in 1970 a friend and I did a 2-1/2 month cross country road trip, 18,000 miles and 44 states. During that time we mostly camped out or just slept in the car, but we stayed with people in their homes in only 4 states:
A friend that had moved to Portland, Oregon
A family we knew from our work that had bought a farm, in McLaughlin South Dakota
My friend's Aunt/Uncle in Waddington, NY
His cousins in the Adirondack Mountains NY
A friend of my Father's house in Chalmette, Louisiana
His daughter's apartment in Metairie, Louisiana
We stayed with family in WA state before moving here, and more recently, on vacation we have been in the homes of 4 different friends in California, and one in Oregon,
so altogether 6 states.
I’ve been in private homes for nonbiz reasons in the three states I lived in, plus others where a friend lived. I’ve been to 43 states that I can remember, but in some cases I was just passing through. Of the ones where I visited AND was invited into someone’s home, I can remember these: OR, CA, AZ, NM, ME, VT, NY, AK. There might be another one or two which I can’t remember.
So 11 known out of 43 states entered. As SunGrins said, “Not something I do much.”
