Not necessarily for relocation purposes however as someone who loves winter weather but is afflicted with SAD, I am curious which cities with the coldest and snowiest winters receive the longest daylight hours. Any sundown before 5:30 pm would be less than ideal. Any snowfall totals less than say 40in/season would also be out. Does such a place even exist?

Grand Rapids is on the far western edge of EST so sun goes down between 5:30-6 at the height of short days. It also averages 75 inches of snow a year. Though I don't know how much that will help someone with SAD since it's very cloudy in winter. Though in fairness I'm not sure there's a way to reconcile both 40+ inches of snow per season PLUS more clear than average skies'.
Flagstaff is probably your best bet. It's the furthest south city in the lower 48 with a real winter. The earliest the sun sets there is around 5:15pm.

The farther south you go, the more winter daylight you get. Northern NM/AZ get the coldest winter weather of all the sun belt. Think places like Flagstaff, Taos, Santa Fe, etc…
Your best bet would probably be somewhere in Northwest NC (e.g. Newland), Southwest VA (e.g. Wise), or somewhere near the peaks of New Mexico (e.g. Red River).
Boone, NC could be a good spot for the eastern US. My understanding is they have a winter similar to that of MA, but they’re obviously much further south so they’ll have more daylight.
