I saw some recent news articles stating how whales and dolphins have returned to the New York harbor. I think it's pretty cool you could possibly catch those sighting from 1 World Trade. Any cities out there that you know of that would give a good look see at whales just from a skyscraper/building?

It's been going on for a few years now in NY Harbor as well as all over the NY area waterways. A humpback whale was even spotted in the Hudson River right off the UWS a few years ago.

Now there's more than 250 whale sightings in these waters, bottlenose dolphins and even Stingrays!

Boston and Seattle are probably the other ones. In general, whales prefer deep open water and avoid busy ports. You can see dolphins from skyscrapers in Miami but whales would be very rare in those waters.

It doesn't happen often in the Boston Harbor, but...

I’ve seen both grey whales (multiple times) and an orca (once) breach maybe 50-100 feet from me while surfing in San Diego. There’s deep canyons just off the coast so it’s not uncommon for them to come close to shore. If you’re up on a cliff or the 3rd story of a beachfront condo you’ll see them all the time in winter.

I’ve seen orcas in the Puget sound from my uncle’s house (single level, but elevated).

Since you brought up surfing... maybe Honolulu is another possible city to consider.

Yep, I was gonna say Sacramento

Delta and Swan hung out in Sac for a week in May 2007

This was further downriver in Antioch, the Antioch Bridge is in the distance over the San Joaquin river - they could have ended up in Stockton!
