Best fried chicken I ever had wasn’t at a restaurant but a church homecoming. Best restaurant fried chicken I’ve had is likely Beasley’s in downtown Raleigh or the State Farmer’s Market Restaurant. Best chain is Chick-fil-A.
Best wings I had is the lemon pepper wings at Kickin’ Chicken in Charleston.
I voted Louisiana and it was a pretty easy choice. Popeye's is the distant 3rd place of the 3 listed and it's still better than many others.

I think Boston Market is pretty awful. I've had Wings Over a few times and it's solid. But my favorite chicken "chain" in MA is Flip The Bird. FTB has 3 locations and is opening a 4th, so it's clearly not worthy of mention in this poll, but they're setup for expansion and the food is really good.
Anyway, I voted for Kentucky, which seems like a bit of an off answer (I mostly think of KFC). Looking at the poll result, Louisiana or Georgia seem like the better answers. As far as chicken meat processing, I always thought of Georgia, North Carolina, Arkansas, Mississippi as being some of the larger states for that.
I know that is not what the poll is asking, but just wanted to chime in here.
Seriously? People think Raising Cane's and Popeye's is good fried chicken? At least the chicken breast at Chick Fil A is edible. KFC has the best coleslaw by far and the chicken isn't too bad if you use lots of napkins to soak up the grease, lol. Original is much better than Extra Crispy.
I got some fried chicken from Smith's grocery store a few nights ago, it was pretty good.
I wish some of the smaller chains in Louisiana was more national.
Leaders Fried Chicken is delicious.
I love brother's friend Chicken and it's usually my first stop in New Orleans.
Mother's and Jaques Imo are pretty good too.
Willie Mae's is said to have the best friend Chicken in the country but the lines are a pain.
The Ruby Slipper has good fried chicken too but all the restaurants have long lines.
We Dats has expanded to Texas but idk if they are a good.
I drive out of my way to buy Frenchy’s chicken. A New Orleans native who settled in Houston so technically a Texas restaurant. People also rave about the fried chicken at BBQ Inn on Yale. I usually pass because it’s a 20 minute wait. They make it fresh.
Note that the poll isn’t about fried chicken necessarily. Buffalo alone puts the American North on the proverbial chicken map.
That is true, I did only specify chicken and not what kind. Of course lots of places offer grilled and fried chicken but many do not make it the core of their business.
Also I agree with Boston Market being gross, never liked that place.
I tried my best to get all the chains that have at least gone regional but unless it came up on the first page or two of Google or Wikipedia it didn’t get a mention. Some of these I’ve never heard of in my life
One chicken place I've thought about since reading this thread is a very small local chain called Southern Classic. Very good fried chicken, so much that every time one opens, the streets get a huge traffic snarl. That many people are waiting to give their order. Watch for this franchise. It may come to a town near you. Locations are in Texas, Mississippi, Arkansas as well as Louisiana.southernclassicchicken.com
Pollo Loco's flame grilled chicken is my favorite, so I voted California.
