I'm going to college for mechanical engineering. I want to move after college to the mountains or the city. What city has the best jobs for mechanical engineers? Like where do they make the highest salary?

I have always heard that Portland and Milwaukee are good cities for that job field.

Chicago, Milwaukee, Minneapolis & Salt Lake City all seem to have a fair amount of ME jobs. My husband is an ME. Medical device companies are a good direction to go, as they don't out source their jobs as much as the other industries( GE, medtronic, Boston Scientific etc..). Also defense is also big as well.

Where are you going to college? Doesn't your college have some sort of placement service that can give you an idea of where to look for jobs? I've been around engineering schools my whole life (my dad was a professor of IE) and it seems the location of your college can have a huge bearing on where you'll end up living since your college will hopefully have connections (such as internships) with industries and businesses nearby.
