I am always shocked when I hear the media complaining that the number of new homes being constructed is way down. They act like this is bad news. I think that limited home construction in 2008 is GOOD NEWS. We need to basically stop all new home construction for three years!

If the corrupt city and county planning boards would not have approved so many new homes in 2000 to 2006, in our communities we would not be where we are today. Places like Arizona, CA, FL and GA have allowed way to many homes to be built and now there is a surplus of empty homes.

In what metro area are they still building lots of new homes?

Huntsville, Alabama. Because of the military base realignment, people are just flowing into that market.

In Albuquerque there is a scarcity of homes for the surplus of people who want to live/move there... the waiting lists for homes are out of this world, homes are still being built.. just not as fast or as many..

drastic reduction doesn't mean homes aren't still being built. i can drive around the area and find plenty of neighborhoods just now being built

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, PA. Yet another hillside near my home is being marred for a gated townhouse community. UGH!
