StuckPA, I realize big cities aren't for everyone, but they're obviously quite popular. IMO Philadelphia has its problems, but it's still one of the greatest cities in the U.S.
Cities may be popular but country may be even more 'popular' as there are probably more people Not living in cities than living in them.
And Philadelphia is one of the greatest cities for what?
I would live in Vicksburg, MS, buy a Honda Civic or Jetta TdI and commute everyday to a good paying job in the Jackson metro area. Vicksburg is more of a residential town and doesn't have the corporate stuff that Jackson does. Its about 40 mile commute to Jackson. Not bad about 45 minute drive.
Vicksburg is a gorgeous historic city with great restaurants, bed and breakfasts and houses on the Mississippi River. It gets great weather all year long including nice hot summer nights. Only problem is there aren't many good jobs close. There was more work there in the 1800s I'd imagine when it was a shipping port and a main town along the Mississippi River corridor. Now its a place for retirees, some service jobs, and not a whole lot else. Still above all I'm a man who loves the South and I would pick Vicksburg, Mississippi.
Does that even exist? I've heard MS was one of the poorest states economy-wise.
Why yes it does. Jackson is the center of business for Mississippi. Corporate office parks, hospitals, law practices. Decent amount of stuff going on. Mississippi has a low cost of living and didn't seem that poor to me.
I drove through Vicksburg and thought it was one of the most depressing places I have been. Beautiful? Hardly. Unless you find boarded up stores in the down town area to be beautiful. Last place on this list I would pick by far.
