That study is full of errors. For example, their population figures for their top five areas are all messed up. If they can't get that right, then I wouldn't trust the rest of it.
Here are the correct metro populations: (2008 estimates)
Anchorage, AK 365,000, not 279,000
Provo-Orem, UT 540,000, not 90,000
Yakima, WA 235,000, not 82,000
Tri-Cities, WA 235,000 not 794,000 (!)
Omaha, NE 840,000, not 419,000
Even if some of these are meant to just be "city" population, it is still inconsistent and deceiving.

I thought something was wrong when I saw the tri cities with such a large population, not to mention Omaha had a city population 419,000 in 2006.
