There are a few smaller cities between the two. Namely Arlington ~350,000, Irving ~200,000, and Grand Prairie ~150,000 So it really wouldn't be feasible.

Plus Fort Worth would NEVER let it happen!

The entire country pretty much considers Dallas-Forth Worth as one megapolis anyway.

Don't even think it! Dallas and Fort Worth are such separate entities with totally different auras about them that a merge would be like putting a sheep's head on a longhorn's body. And we all know that those two don't get along.
