These are the towns I am considering. If anyone knows anything about them, I would love it. Like, is it remote? Prices of land or housing? And anything about the city itself.

Helen -- White County
Cleveland -- White County
Sautee Nacoochee -- White County
Young Harris -- Towns County
Blue Ridge -- Towns County
Clarkesville -- Habersham County

I would like to narrow this list down a bit, if possible. I only want to spend a day or day 1/2 because then I'll be headed to TN to do the same thing. THANKS!
Hi,
I live near Young Harris and not far from the other town. My town is the best though, it's Hayesville, NC. There is a website at their chamber of commerce so you can see for yourself. It is quiet, quaint, friendly and plenty to do but a real hometown feeling. We've lived here for 12 years from the big city of Orlando, FL. Hayesville has remained laid back and hasn't changed much. I'll be glad to help you with questions and I also have a vacation rental available. Good luck! Barbara

Helen is a Alpine Village where you take your company to visit...restaurants, shops and lots of fun but wouldn't want to live there esp. during Octoberfest!

We did this drive last weekend (search threads on 'Young Harris', I did one a few weeks ago). The mountains are not a joke. Driving through the 'green areas' as you put it, was not my favorite thing--I'm a flat land mammal. But, it is beautiful. Like another poster said, you are trying to cover a pretty large area in a short amount of time. Call realtors if possible to see the area a little faster.

Default North Georgia

Areas like Elijay are nice but for my money, drive across the border to NC as they have more zoning laws than does Georgia. May build a beatiful home and 5 years later someone opens a junk yard right next door.
