is there anywhere close to major interstates north of Atlanta (closer to the mountains) that is a nice town, sort of big but still away from all the city life? we dont want a drastic change in lifestyle and throwing ourselves into the boonies per say. we still want the nice things and nice area but want to get away from all the city life.

i know this isnt making any sense but i am sure someone will understand where i am coming from.

we dont want to move to a predominant Hispanic place or where we will feel out of place. forgive the honesty. but in south Florida we are surrounded with the Jewish population and northerners which makes it a very undesirable place to live and everyone is just plain rude. we want to move somewhere that people are nice, mountains are right there, take my truck in the mountains or woods and enjoy fishing and stuff but still have all the amenities we would need.

most importantly, we want to feel comfortable with the crime level and such due to us having our 6 month old and obviously need to be close to good schools.

Rome. Number one school district in the state last year, 3 rivers, 4 colleges, 3 major hospitals, Great downtown, Berry College has the world's largest college campus at 28k acres, plenty of outdoor opportunities. Feel free to contact me for any other information. I know Rome quite well.

5150, Not sure what qualifies as 'bigger', but Rome is 36K city pop, in a 100K pop county. I75 about a half an hour drive. But not really mountains.

Ellijay, Dahlonega, Blairsville, Helen, Blue Ridge all qualify as in the mountains (nothing like out west, but nice), but none any closer, and some a lot further, from an interstate. Also, they are less populous communities. Dahlonega as an example is a town of 5K or so, in a county of around 30,000. Hope this helps.

Best wishes.

i think i understand what your saying. thanks.

from Dahlonega the closest FedEx is 19 miles away and there are a few around that time frame in case of whatever reasons i need to go to a different location. i would assume if a scheduled pickup is needed daily i could make arrangements with them. there would be no reason they couldn't come out right?

Rome (in my head) would be a bigger place with all the walmarts, malls, shopping, dinning, etc etc like any other bigger place right? but your saying not really mountains. we are not looking to live in the booney type mountain areas. we still want all the amenities close and not too far to a Publix or whatever is there.

this decision is hard!

Dawson (Where Dahlonega is) county, has A Big outlet mall North Georgia Premium Outlets
, All the big box stores (Walmart, target, loews, HD) FedEx/UPS if you are shipping with a normal volume that would be expected from a shipping opertaion will schedule a 'daily' pickup, or if you have enought volume, they will park a Trailer right at your loading dock, and swap it out each day.
