Coming to Alpharetta soon...Need Help! (Atlanta: home, transfer, elementary schools)

Hello everyone! I would like some input about Alpharetta, GA. I'm a young guy 33 with 8 years of experience in IT. Recently me and my girlfriend are thinking about settling in GA. We are african american. Both have our degrees with 2 kids. We are wanting a better life for our kids and one that is much more safer than Chicago. I have done a lot of research but there is nothing better than personal reviews that is recent. So anybody out there, tell me your thoughts about life in Alpharetta. Reason for Alpharetta is because the current company I work for here in Chicago, maybe transfering me to the headquarters there.

A little about us, we are pretty much home bodies. We are not into the club scene, we got children for crying out loud. We have date nights. Our focuse is on the kids, 2 boys, who want to be outside riding their bikes. Here in Chicago, southside, we just can't allow it due to the fact you never know if they will come back. Both boys are musically inclined and would like to be in a band somewhere. So are there any elementary schools that specialize in music.

I'm also getting contradictory sayings about housing. So, all comments are welcomed here.
