My family and I moved to Georgia about 3 years ago. Currently I have a job at Hartsfield Jackson Airport and live in south Fulton County. We would like to remain south of Atlanta, but find a place that's much more rural than we live in now. We like areas where houses are spread out and not so close to each other. We would like to be able to buy some property around 5-10 acres, give or take. I don't mind living in the 'sticks' as I do like to hunt, fish and other outdoor activities (hiking, camping, etc). What cities are recommended that are within and hour/hour and a half drive to the airport and also where the cost of living, housing and crime isn't high? Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

Pine Mountain is a beautiful area south of Atlanta. Probably about 1 hour south of Hartsfield. Rolling hills, great hiking trails, and close to Callaway Gardens, a massive outdoor area.

Barnesville and The Rock Georgia might be areas you want to look into . Also the suggestion for Pine Mountain is a good one to look into as well .

Everything "south of Atlanta" to the Columbus/Macon line is a possibility. You don't mind "the sticks" (of which, to my Wyoming sensibilities, there are none.. WAY too populated), would mean that you don't mind a 10 minute drive to the next town center or 30 minute drive to a bigger area.

I'd suggest looking at traffic patterns for potential commutes. Google maps is good for this and can give you an idea of what to expect at the times you'll be driving. *I* sure as heck wouldn't pick a place with a nasty commute, but everyone's different. What amenities MUST you have, there are a LOT of places between PTC and Warm Spring where there's zero cell phone coverage, and the only internet option is dialup or satellite (or even worse, Windstream ~ nothing like paying good money to get a swift kick to the family jewels once a month). Are schools important? Might want to stick to Harrris county (or find a good private school). Hospitals/medical care high on the list? Do you eat out a lot and want more variety than Greasy Spoon A and B?

You've not given much to work with, try filling in some criteria of "Must have", "would be nice to have", and "wow, that'd be Great but is totally unnecessary"
