My husband has been offered a very good position in Barnesville, Georgia. What is the town really like? I'm especially concerned about the schools.

I'd appreciate mindful advice because this is a major decision for us I'd prefer not to have to make at all.

It's somewhat a typical Georgia small town. You'll have a short drive to Atlanta and Macon, and an even shorter one to Griffin and the southern suburbs of Atlanta. Gordon College is there, but I cant really tell if it has a "college town" vibe. I think Barnesville would be a perfect town if someone wants a small town atmosphere yet all the benefits and amenities of a major metropolitan area within a short drive. On schooldigger, Lamar County High has a 3/5 star rating and Lamar County Elementary/Middle School have 2/5 star ratings. I do know they take their high school football pretty serious though.

Thank you for your reply. I'm sorry I didn't respond sooner. He decided to turn down the position.
