I'm originally from Florida and looking to move a little further north. I want a older, nice home with a little acreage; preferably a fixer upper. I don't want the hustle and bustle of a large city but I want to be near enough to enjoy city amenities for kids and future (potential) grandkids. I think 30-45 minutes away is fine. Being in or around a military friendly community is highly regarded as well.

Does this exist in Georgia?

We are looking for a similar place, BUT we have also own horses so I am also seeking places that I can ride without having to trailer out every time I want to saddle up! We have family in and around Macon, and two children in the Air Force, so Warner Robbins AFB is close. Seeking a home on 10-20 acres, have also been checking out the Oconee NF, but unlike the Ocala NF I think riding is limited. Will follow this post to see if anyone replys.

My suggestion would be to look into the Dahlonega , Dawsonville area . Dahlonega is the home of North Georgia College which has has a large population of Cadets plus there is a base in the area as well.So it is a military friendly area.
