FBI — Table 8 - Georgia
Crime Statistics Lookup

as of 2012
Albany reported 813 Violent Crimes with a population of 78,512 (1,035 rate)
Macon reported 583 Violent Crimes with a population of 92,836 (628.0 rate)
Columbus reported 994 Violent Crimes with a population of 196,178 (506.7 rate)
Athens-Clarke County reported 455 Violent Crimes with a population of 117,457 (380 rate)
Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan reported 878 Violent Crimes with a population of 231,285 (387 rate)

*Augusta for some reason didnt have info submitted on any of the sites I came across that report FBI statistics.
*The figures for Athens and Columbus includes the entire county they are in. Savannah-Metro stats accounts for 231,285 residents, so while not the entire county, that's definitely more than just Savannah proper's stats.

Here's a neat tool that allows you to see stats even for the smallest of cities.

What's interesting is that Atlanta, though so large, still has the 11th highest violent crime rate in the state, compared to cities that only have a few thousands residents.

The top 10 highest violent crime rates in the state, including small cities, are

Porterdale 2,334
Arlington 2,072
College Park 2,019
Stone Mountain 1,938
East Ellijay 1,812
Swainsboro 1,770
Quitman 1,734
Boston 1,731
Helen 1,544
Brunswick 1,402

with Atlanta 11th, 1,379

You really should compare statistics for counties and not just for these small cities. In most areas of Georgia, counties have large unincorporated areas, it makes some comparison a bit easier when are you looking at crime rates in rural/semi-rural areas in my opinion anyway.
