I also recommend Northern Bibb County the area is growing into its own city, one that is evidently better than Macon or Columbus. The area is very mixed of middle and high class, there are a great deal of low class housing but they carry themselves so great you would think there middle class. There's a new mall, a major hunting store, many businesses are calling there area home such as Atlantic Southern Bank which is based in Macon and provides banking services to Middle Georiga and parts of Florida. The new mall will bring a 1,200+ jobs not to mention everything going on around it the new area is expected to bring 5000 something jobs mostly in retail. There are also several million dollar homes in the area. Your also less than 30 minutes from the Atlanta outskirts, and 45 minutes from Hartsfield Jack International and an hour from downtown Atlanta where you can catch all of the events that dont come through Macon. The area strecthes any where north of Zebulon Rd. on the West and Tom Hill Sr. Blvd on the east all the way north to Bollingbroke in Monroe County.

If you do not wish to stay in North Bibb there is Bolingbroke, whcih is growing very steadily but could boom in the next three years. People in the area send there children across into North Bibb County to go to school, Being Monroe COunty schools are to far out the way. The North Bibb County schools are some of the greatest in middle georgia outside of Macon private schools such as Mount de Sales, and Tatnall Square Academy. Currently there is no high school for North Bibb COunty but the Bibb County Government is nearly complete on Howard High School which anchor Howard Middle School where 25% of the population is from Bolingbroke, Monroe County.

I know it may be kinda hard to understand what im saying being that you may have never been to Macon so I provided some maps, images, and interactive items to help you, I also provided information about options of great schools your child will have to choose from if you choose the North Bibb County Area. I can also provide information of jobs availible if you give me your resume. Which you can send me a private message or post it here.

Smile Portfolio

Bibb County, Georgia

I hope these two documents are very helpful to you, it includes maps and things that I feel will be very helpful to give you a better understanding of Bibb County. First I will give you a breakdown of all the images.

Map A is a map of Georgia the red disfigured shaped is Bibb County on the Georgia Map, to your left is a more detailed image of Bibb County the red on inside the shape is the city of Macon and the area of it. The area that I was speaking of is located just north of the red, all the way west.

Map B shows you many of the major roads in North Bibb County such as Zebulon Road., and gets into more detail of the area we are focusing on. Feel free to look around for things such as the Wal-Mart on Zebulon Road or even Wesleyan College. Try not to go to far south of Thomaston Road, and Forsyth Road the area in between the two interstates I-75 and I-475. If you wish to look for your home alone use keywords such as Bass Road, Forsyth Road, Wesleyan Drive, Riverside Drive, Tucker Road and New Forsyth Road which can all be seen on the map provided by Google. The Wesleyan Estates is a great area of North Bibb County.

Map C has a marker on Howard Middle, currently the High School is being built right next to it, however it can’t be seen on this map. Here are three reviews provided by three different sites that review schools on test grades, ratios, and more. Review One, Review Two, and Review Three*. (http://www.doe.k12.ga.us/ReportingFW.aspx?PageReq=101&SchoolID=42511&PID=63 &PTID=70&T=0&FY=2007 - broken link)
The review with the asterisk is very official and is provided by the State of Georgia.

Wal-Mart Supercenter located on Zebulon Road is indicated by Marker A, Zebulon Road has many big box retailers located on it such as Lowe’s, Kroger (A grocery store), and more.

Default Have you moved?

If you haven't, I too would highly recomment Columbus. It's much more cosmopolitan than Macon. The city and county are consolidated so there's great governmental and community services. Moon Family Properties is in both towns, though, and offers a trade program where they will buy your home in PA if you buy one of their homes. They specialize in 'country living close to city living'...

Here is the truth about Columbus and Macon.
Several people will tell you a bunch of crap to try and make one city look SO much better than the other,
when actually it is exaggerated stretches that most everyday people wont care about.

They are both mid-sized cities with mid-sized city amenities
Both cities have their little mueseums, civic centers for events,
historic districts, and standard midsized-city shopping/entertainment.

They both have their very nice, very slummy, and so-so areas.

So if anybody comes at you and tells you one is better than the other because
of "this and that" neighborhood or "this and that" shopping place its crap.

There no place in Macon or Columbus, that is so much more nicer or so much more slummy than
another area you could find in the other city.
There is no entertainment in Macon or Columbus, that would just dwarf the other city.

The Only REAL noticeable difference is that Macon looks bigger than it really is, and Columbus looks smaller than it really is.
Macon looks bigger because it has a skyline (Columbus doesnt) it's more compact and Columbus is more spread out, also because Macon has heavily traveled interstate
access and Columbus doesnt. Because of the interstate access in Macon, many people are always traveling through the city, and they
exit off to check out shopping centers, or for fast food and gas etc.

Its really about would you like a mid sized city with mid sized city amenities that seems to be slower, more country and out in the open,
or would you prefer a mid sized city with mid sized city amenities that seems like you're actually in an urban environment.

It's just about which one you prefer, it just makes me laugh when I see people talk about how much more "cosmopolitan" Columbus is than Macon and things of that nature.
Visit both towns, and you will see what I mean.

how old son?
area has cols youth football ~ our Pop Warner
no flag football here.
dont know much about middle school football
all my kids came through soccer and gymnastics
columbus high is liberal arts magnet
does not have a good football program at this point
does have whole range soccer, golf, cross country, lacrosse
not steering you toward columbus high but
my grandfather, father, myself and all 3 kids are grads
2 daughters, oldest Presbyterian Minister in Scotland, and
yungest Attorney in suburban Athens,
son finishing up college with soccer coaching background

look up Columbus High on Ga school info sites
near top of public high schools
it has been college prep for over 100 years
more challenging than Brookstone which is expensive private but with more money than brains. my nieces went there but on partial scholarship.
our muscogee school district is not perfect
you will find that city is much more tolerant of race and ethnic differences than Macon.
Housing costs are climbing, maybe a little over priced
North Columbus figure $140 psf
where are you moving from in PA?
Commuting is not bad, 15- 25 minutes MAX
to almost anywhere in Columbus-Muscogee.
check us out
regards
Bob
