Depends on your definition of "country," what you consider a "decent time" and where in Atlanta you want to go.

You need to define where in Atlanta your work location is going to be, to get a good answer.

Generally, the southern crescent is going to be your closest rural environment, but I can't recommend the southeast side. I lived in Newnan for 10 years, and commuted into Atlanta (Peachtree and Pine) every day. Newnan is pretty rural, with lots of "land" opportunities. The commute from there will be an hour-40 miles from door to door. The GRTA bus picks up in Newnan and drops off at numerous locations in downtown Atlanta, including the MARTA stations, so if that works for your office location, it's a very relaxing and cost effective commute. I slept all the awwY to work every morning, and read my book all the way home in the afternoon, or browsed my iPad.
