Hi everyone my name is Jessica.. My friend I are both 22 and still in college and were looking for affordable place to live with a good nightlife and college atmosphere. While I was searching I can across Athens and I never thought of Georgia that way...We are from Philadelphia what I want to know is Athens a fairly safe place to live? Is the nightlife fun? Is there a lot to do in the surrounding areas? My other concern is that my friend is a lesbian and I was wondering if there would be a lot for her to do there like the gay nightlife? And if you know of any good websites with great resources for me as well. After hearing your responses and looking into it more we plan on coming down during our spring break to take a closer look

Oh, yes Michael Stipe will be there to welcome you with open arms. Athens is a great, great, town. Tons to do. Very quaint and historic. The people are friendly. I want to get back down there myself. Of course the music scene is top notch! Folklore is one of the hot bands right now. There's also a young female singer named Carolyn Weiss who is really tearing it up. Plus so much more. Get down to Athens. If you have the money and are young Athens is the place to be!
