I am in Florida right now and planning to move to move to Georgia very soon. But I want to buy a few acres of land to create a farm. Any advice on the best location to consider?

What kind of farm? Are you planning to sell what you grow? If so, what's your market? If you're planning to do the locally grown thing, you'll need affordable land close to an urban center where you can sell your product. Do more research.

If you want to isolate yourself and go the self sufficiency route, much of south and central GA is sparsely populated and largely agrarian.

I'll echo what ellie said - look around Tifton, GA as a starting point.

Hi there,

Thank you for your reply...
It will be a farm mostly for personal use, not commercial. I want a place not too far from schools and hospitals/clinic @ Ellie).
Stormhammer, i never heard of Tifton before, i will do some more research on it.

Thank you

I suppose it depends on what you would like to farm. Tifton is a sleepy town in south Georgia. Not sure where in Florida you are coming from, but if you are coming from north Florida, you may not notice much of a difference. I highly recommend that you investigate the many beautiful areas of north Georgia. There are many small farms across the area and the climate is nicer than in south Georgia.
