The census released their annual state population estimates today and Georgia's population as of 1 July, 2017 stands at 10,429,379. Our competitor North Carolina grew slightly faster and now stands at 10,273,419.

So Metro Atlanta may have increased by close to 100K in that one year time frame since ATL carries the bulk of this states growth.

Tired of Metro Atlanta having to foot the bill for rural Geogria. It's time for rural Georgia to help pay for transit in the metro area

How do you propose making that happen? To me, the state needs to work harder to bring more development to other areas outside of metro Atlanta. Georgia is too top heavy with metro Atlanta.

I have no idea. Thing is the average company looking to relocate the CEO family probably wants to live in or near a large city to have access to the airport, shopping for the wife, etc. You gotta ask the average millionaire CEO if they want to live in Alpharetta or Camilla, Ga??

Not all of such things are corporate. There are back office expansions and a variety of industrial/warehouse type of things as well.

But it challenging for small metros and GA's other metros are pretty small.

I think they recognize that with the state building its cybersecurity Hub in Augusta. It's hard to compete with all that Atlanta offers. You can still get a small town and affordable setting while being in reasonable distance to Atlanta.

I know this is a pipe dream, but I wish Georgia was divided into two North Georgia, and South Georgia as two states.
