I am a teacher and I am planning a move to Georgia. I am an avid fisherman so I am keying on counties with lakes. I would really like to get some information on Troup, Heard, and Harris counties. It would be great if I could get some information/opinions on the area and school systems. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

My family lives in Harris County. The county is perfectly situated between Columbus and LaGrange (Troup County). The majority of growth in Harris County is in the southern portion right north of Columbus. Harris County is a beautiful place. It is home to Callaway Gardens which is located in the southern most tip of the Appalachian Mountians. The school system is excellent. It is a fast growing county but is still rural in nature. Taxes are extremely low. You are close to all of the amenities of Columbus. It is only 50 minutes to Atlanta from the northern most part. By living in Harris County, you have access to all of the regions major lakes such as Lake Harding, Lake Oliver, and West Point Lake. I would choose Harris over Troup and Heard.
