We are moving our family from the west coast to Georgia this summer, and are considering Winston. I’m looking for input of any sort - positive, negative, indifferent. Our entire family is relocating so I welcome any and all input related to livability, jobs, schools, etc. Thanks!

I’ve got family and friends that live in that area (Winston and western Douglas County) and they love living in that area.

They love living in that area because it’s quiet, there’s basically no crime and they like the good-decent quality of the schools for a semi-rural outer-suburban area in the Douglas County High School and Alexander High School clusters of the Douglas County School System.

Housing costs also are relatively significantly lower in Douglas County than they are in other parts of the Atlanta metropolitan area (particularly on the more affluent north side of the Atlanta metropolitan area).

Douglas County itself is not considered to be a major employment hub, but Douglas County (particularly in the eastern end of the county closest to the Cobb and Fulton county lines) is part of a very large hub of light-medium industrial employment that is anchored by the Chattahoochee River and Fulton Industrial Boulevard (Georgia State Route 70) in west and west-southwest Fulton County.

Many residents in Douglas County may also commute to jobs at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (the world’s busiest airport before the pandemic) or commute (often through very heavy traffic) to jobs in other employment hubs in Central Atlanta (Downtown, Midtown and Buckhead), Northwest metro Atlanta (along the greater I-75 Northwest corridor in areas like Vinings, Cumberland, Marietta and Kennesaw) and even the Perimeter Center area in North metro Atlanta.
