Does anybody know anything about the town of Watkinsville, Ga? We are thinking of buying property there. We live in Atlanta and are looking for somewhere close to go on the weekends. Athens is close and seems like a nice town, but Oconee County schools are better, so I think the property values there will hold more.

I am renting in Athens now and am looking to buy later this year.
Watkinsville is at the top of my list. It is a charming fairly rural town. It has a few stores but you do most of your shopping in Athens. It has no crime unlike Athens which unfortunately is having problems with burglars breaking and entering during the days when noone is home and stealing everyone's flat screen tv's. It is almost a daily occurrence.

I am also noticing some new developments in Oglethorpe county just outside Winterville off Hargrove Lake Rd.

Ditto, the previous poster. Watkinsville is a wonderful little city. What, specifically, do you want to know?

You will find that many people currently living in Georgia are planning on moving to Oconee county, (Watkinsville). My wife and I, after living in Clarke County since the early 60's, recently moved out to the county line between Barrow and Oconee. In fact the line between the two counties runs through the new Georgia Club where we now live.

We are eight to ten minutes from shopping in either direction on highway 316; a four lane that connects Athens to Atlanta.

I am African American and have two children with disabilities. I am tired of living in Augusta. I want to live in the rural area of Jefferson Georgia. I love the fact of small towns and breathable air. Does anyone know of any programs for my children and any for sale land? I also can't seem to find a African American or mixed church some help please! Thank you
