What is the rule for obtaining a class C driver's license in georgia if you over 18 years old. Do i need to obtain a permit first? and if i do, how long will i have to hold it before i can get my license?

Also if a permit is not required can i take all the tests (writing and roadskills) on the same day?

Default Re:Getting a driver's license when your 18+: never held a permit

Yes, you have to have a permit first (a year and one day, to be exact) before getting a Class C license, regardless of your age.

I was 24. All i had to do was pass the computer test and then call to make a appointment for the road test. I took that like a week later.

The people who responded after me were correct. You take the written exam to receive your permit, and then take the road test soon afterwards. Since you're over 18, you do not have to wait a year and a day.

Can you drive by yourself in any state if you're over 21 and are issued a permit?

Default Getting Permit then License

I am 18 years old, and I was planning to get a permit, then I was going to take driver's ed. How long do I have to wait after that till I can get my license? Or can I get it right away?

Honestly I'm still confused, I turn 18 on Wednesday & I was unable to get my permit all through out high school because my sophomore year a person in my family got very sick to where I had to miss a great deal of school which supposeably "voided" my attendance forms which pretty much rendered me useless until I turned 18 , well now the time has finally come & I have been told by pretty much everybody that I will only have to wait like a week to go take my drivers test after receiving my permit on Wednesday .. Can someone PLEASE clear this up for me
