Hello! I am going to Jekyll Island for a week starting this Friday and have been told there aren't any grocery stores. Is that true? Where do people shop for good food in the area and please don't mention Winn Dixie (I am not fond of that store).

Thanks for the help!

Robin

There is a small (and very limited) grocery store in the strip center across from the convention center. For anything more, you will be Brunswick bound.

jekyll is the most overpriced rip off in the state of ga!!!! get everything you need before you get there. including enough gas to get away from there. you can stay in daytona or panama city cheaper!!!!!!

Daytona and Panama City don't have the history and natural beauty that Jekyll does.

I probably would get what you need before you get on the island though. There are grocery stores on the mainland in Brunswick.

I agree with the others who have advised you to buy your groceries in Brunswick instead of on Jekyll Island. Yes , they do have a grocery store but it is a very small IGA.
What you might want to do is go to the store locator section of your favorite grocery store and see if they have store located in Brunswick. I know they do have Publix, Kroger ,Harvey's, Piggly Wiggly, and Winn Dixie in Brunswick . As to how close they are to Jekyll Island , they were a ways away ( Things change though - and it's been a while since I've been able to go there. )

My guess is 7-8 miles to the closest mainland supermarket.
