Hello,

My wife and I would like to relocate to the Southern Appalachian area from Dayton, Ohio. After my father died in 2004, I passed through this area and stopped in Cartersville for a few hours. Even though the time was brief, I was quite impressed with the hospitality of the people and with the museum at Etowah Mounds. After I met my wife last year, I discovered that she also likes the mountains, and during our honeymoon last August in Pigeon Forge, we decided that we wanted to relocate somewhere in this region.

We looked at Knoxville first, but it did not resonate with us, Then we considered Chattanooga (my first post on city-data is here). It is still on our list of possibilities, but the other day we serendipitously found the website for Birds Nest Retreat (broken link) near Blairsville. From that site, and our subsequent Internet searches, this area seems to be what we have been searching for. In particular, she found the website for Unity Church of the Mountains in Blairsville. Having a Unity Church close by is important to her, as she is active in the one here in Dayton. When we were looking at East Tennessee, there were Unity Churches in Knoxville and Chattanooga, but none to be found in the smaller towns in between -- and smaller towns are what we are looking for. Not only for the ambiance, but also to avoid urban crime, decay, and other such problems that are rampant here in Dayton Ohio. This last is especially important to us as she is pregnant and our baby is due this November.

Anyway, we are looking for contacts who live in or are familiar with North Georgia that would be willing to answer our questions via email. If someone could help us find a new town to investigate we would be very grateful. We would like to visit our 'picks' in the next few months, if possible.

My email address is: dwoosley@gmail.com

Thanks in advance for your help,

///Dave

zip code 30710 seems to fit your description. It is an easy 30 minute drive to Chattanooga but the golf course subdivisions have a very nice family friendly atmosphere. I think you get a lot of house and property for your money here. You can research it at realtor.com
