Flying Out of Grand Rapids -- Any Advice?

Totally depends where your'e flying.

Living in GR, I've used Midway to get to the west coast because of the plethora of Southwest Airlines flights headed to California. Holland is a good 40 minutes closer than GR if you're driving to Midway, so there's some advantage there. That said, unless I'm talking about a multi-timezone flight, I wouldn't drive that far. It's a good 3 hours to Midway from Holland, and that's without Chicago traffic, parking and longer waits at the significantly more crowded airport. Plus, Midway isn't that busy of an airport.

I've driven to Detroit to catch cheap-o flights eastward. They're not always cheaper, and price is the only reason I'd drive 2 hours to catch a 90 minute flight to the east coast. I've also used Detroit to get to Florida, but we're now just as cheap as detroit if the scheduling works, so I don't that so much any more.

At the end of the day, I'd much rather fly from GRR. Sorry.
