Looking for something near the sights, bars, restaurants, if available. Going to be there one night next week. Thanks!

There's a Holiday Inn Express that is in a great location (across from Ford Museum) that is within walking distance of downtown/ The B.O.B. and several other nightlife opportunities. Comes without the high price tag of the convention hotels, which are also in the same area and beautiful and luxurious to stay at.

Yeah, that was the only one I could get. Everything else was not available when I needed it. Something must be going on in town. I'll keep looking, but I think that's the best I'll be able to do, which sounds all right actually.

Thanks,

V.

Oh, now it looks like we'll be staying in Grand Haven, MI. Any hotel ideas?

I frequent Grand Haven but have not hotelled there. This looks interesting - close to Washington Street (downtown) and the riverwalk. This a popular tourist town. Bands and entertainment are on the weekends.

I think there are only a couple of hotels in Grand Haven. The Holiday Inn is in a great spot on the river and overlooks Grand Isle Marina, but could be expensive. There are a couple on US-31/Beacon Blvd South of downtown near Meijer, like a Fairfield and a Best Western I think. Short term business class hotels with continental breakfast, etc. Not bad. You can bike to downtown and the beach from there, a bit of a hike to walk.

Otherwise you can try the Muskegon/Norton Shores/Lakes Mall area. Only about a 10 minute drive from Grand Haven.

Have fun!

Good luck! July 26 -August 3 is the Coast Guard Festival. Finding a room in Grand Haven is nearly impossible. Try Holland. It's about a 20 minute drive from there to Grand haven.

As far as development news goes, this isn't the most interesting. But it is yet another piece added to the urban environment in Grand Rapids, a new Hampton Inn near College Ave and Michigan:
