Okay well one who has lived in south africa and seen what a lion can do in the wild I oppose zoos to the highest form and will not go to a zoo or a circus . I own birds and dont train them to do tricks I just expect them to be picked up on my finger and I tell them I love them that is all I expect of them . I want them to rely on me to be moved from one place to another and that is it and mostly that is for cleaning . I have three birds and they are all kept clean and most days are out of their cage from dawn to dusk . I have respect for their nature . I dont believe any wild animal should be kept as a pet .

I would absolutely not. I haven't even taken my now 9 year old to the circus for this exact reason. These poor animals are made to "perform" for our amusement. I would rather take her to a wild life park, you know, those drive through ones, and have her see the animal in a more natural environment. Unfortunatly it will be all too soon that we will only see these wonderful animal in Wildlife Parks, Zoo's or in the circus.

Would you go to a Circus if you knew animals were abused?

Hmm...suppose it was the human employees who were being abused. Would you go to that circus?

Don't like zoo's, don't like circuses.

They have outlived their usefulness.

There is no need for us to hold these magnificent creatures captive anymore.

Maybe it is just me but that seems so contradictory. Your opposed to wild animals being put in a cage but you have birds in a cage. Arent birds wild animals and naturally fly without boundary?
Not that Im a fan of zoos and the circus, but just saying.

Birds that are born in capitivity are not wild animals . My birds are never in a cage except at night and that is for their safety ..

Since people are making their living off of them, it's in their own best interest to treat them well. They probably aren't cheap either. Unlike zoos, for example, a circus performer depends on his animal(s) as part of his own act. If anything, I'd suspect circus animals would tend to be spoiled.

Think of it like a limousine driver and his limo. It's in his own best interest to take care of it, keep it clean and serviced regularly, because if he does, he'll get more customers/repeat business and he can charge more. The circus animal like the limo is directly tied to their owner's success. Not true with zoo animals.
