Sen. Rubio will be giving the Republican response to President Obama's upcomming State of The Union speech in English and in Spanish.

For all those Republicans that have been fighting so hard for English as the "official" language, is this acceptable? Is this the "death knell" for the "English Only" cause?

Is the Republican party acting without advice and consent of their constituents?

Is the party evolving from English only to English first...?

Even aside from the language issue, choosing a wealthy Cuban-American tea-bagger from Florida, as the ''standard bearer'' for the GOP's ''Hispanic Outreach'', is kinda like using the Mafia to pitch to Italian-Americans!

Shouldn't this be under the politics and other controversies tab?

Yeah, they need somebody more representative and respectable like Democrat Senator Bob Menendez from New Jersey.

Too bad he's a whoremonger.

Agree. Exactly what proposition is it that we are supposed to be debating here?

Wow. I'm putting that on my tombstone.

Then everyone will think I was a Democrat.

As a Republican, I have no problem with it. Republicans have been using Spanish in their speeches for quite some time. President Bush II spoke in Spanish sometimes as did his brother Jeb. There were Spanish speakers at the Republican convention. There's a big difference between using Spanish for a speech and having it as an official language.

This is only an issue because Democrats can't stand the thought that a minority could possibly be conservative.

The OP's snide suggestion that Republicans are not allowed to be as diverse in their opinions as Democrats.

Liberals fear the Republicans. Obamaism will eventually drop like a lead balloon and before 2016.

I don't know about that. The Republicans are basically fighting among themselves to figure out how to reverse their political fortunes after getting beaten in two major national elections.
