I was checking out a local news website and ran across an article that made me think. Maryland is proposing a law to stop shackling of pregnant women during delivery. 18 states already have such laws. Bill Would Stop Most Shackling of Pregnant Inmates - WBOC-TV 16, Delmarvas News Leader, FOX 21 - Should shackling a pregnant woman during delivery even be considered??

Not if you're still planning on using your hands. My wife would have, and likely had the strength, to tear off any limb attached to the person who did anything that she didn't care for during her labor and delivery. I'd sooner shackle the man who impregnated her to make sure he doesn't scurry off somewhere and hide.

I doubt the man responsible would be in the prison delivery room.

In my decidedly personal opinion, this is a thread in search of supporters.

Sure, SOME women might tear off the appendages (including heads) of anyone within their reach during childbirth. However, were such a thing universally true, human history would look a lot more like those of the Praying Mantis or Black Widow Spider than it actually does.

Regards as always,

Far from it. When I saw the news article I was horrified. I might see it if they were dangerous people and were being treated in a public hospital.
