Didn't know which category this would fall under so I just put it here. Keep in mind this is the point of view of a college student so I can't do the whole " back in my day..." posting. It just seems like nowadays you can't say anything, as I like to say, " outside the box" without somebody catching feelings(young people slang for getting offended) over it. The Millennial generation is just soft soft soft, the slightest thing will blow up. I think 1 of 2 things is occurring

- We're just becoming soft and overemotional
- We've gotten progressively meaner and the softness is the adaptation to that.

Yes, I think people react too often rather than just discussing things. I'd rather see people discussing and challenging each other on a personal level rather than flying into outrage over everything.

We have so much more in common but the media seems to be all about what separates us. This gives them the control.

In my experience, "people are too sensitive" arguments tend to be legit about 1% of the time, and the other 99% are along the lines of "why can't I say the n-word in public anymore? "

I don't think so.

Some people are all about how they have such a thick skin and that nothing bothers them.

There are plenty of people out there who don't really care what people say or think.

Yes, people are too easily offended these days.

We're seeing in many workplaces the result of hand-wringing teachers following kids in the schoolyard around in case Tommy pulls Susie's pigtails or Susie and Maria don't invite Annie to skip rope. Even adults are turning into crybabies who go running to Mommy (their bosses, moderators....)

Parents should teach their kids to be kind to others. They should also teach them to let a whole lot roll of their backs. We're turning kids into pansies today and it shows.

That is basically 100% true. It's interesting that so many people want to just be rude & insensitive. Why? Why would you want to deliberately be a jerk? You know what is considered hurtful & what isn't, yet people still say the hurtful things & then turn around with wide eyes saying What? What's the problem? Oh stop being so sensitive. Knowing full well what they're doing.

I disagree.

I think it is more along the lines of liberals seeing nothing wrong with a crucifix in urine being called " art" and protected by the 1st Amendment.

Then saying that we need more controls on the 2nd amendment

I'll bet if another " artist" created something that offended blacks or gays as much as that crucifix in urine " art work " offended Christians, the uproar would prompt judges to intervene.

^^^Really? I don't think so. Do you see intervention in films that depict christians, gays, jews, blacks in an offensive way? No. So there goes that argument.

What film depicts Jews in an offensive way? Hollywood is run by Jews. So, since when would they allow such a film to get made?

What film maker would dare make a film that depicted gays in a bad way ?
