Next thing you know, a famous singer is singing your song and making millions from your song.
Has this ever happened and the poor person was able to stop the famous singer from using his/her song? Because I doubt it

As someone who makes his living off intellectual property, you couldn't be more wrong if you tried.
In truth, copyright protects the not-so-famous. I've taken two companies to court to defend my intellectual property. And won.
And, of course, chance of someone famous walking into a bar, taking your song, and making millions is so minuscule that you'd need an electron microscope to find it.
