I ignore "celebrities", being an entertainer, etc does not give them any special wisdom in other fields.

I make a note of a celebrity's political affiliation as some insight into the type of person they are, but those affiliation and views don't influence my own political views.

No. If I'm willing to see a film with Tom Cruise or John Travolta, or buy a Chick Corea or Beck album, I can pretty much forgive any other celebrity's views.

Usually doesn't bother me and I usually don't know which way they lean. I usually just enjoy their movies, shows, etc.

However.....a few celebrities do get under my skin. Alec Baldwin for example already mentioned on this thread. I will generally avoid watching what he is in because he is a bad tempered rude twit and always comes across as smug and condescending. The whole incident on the plane where he delayed a flight was inexcusable. Time for me to watch The Edge again with Anthony Hopkins where he comes to a bad end!

I'm a Republican partisan and despise Democrats. If everyone in Hollywood dropped dead it would be fine with me.

NOPE. They are just people, like everyone else.

As long as the celebrity keeps their opinions to themselves, I don't really mind what they believe. When they choose to use their stardom as a platform for their own beliefs, they lose me. More so if I disagree with them.

The bottom line is these people are well-paid to act or do whatever it is they do. Using stardom to sway opinion is wrong, perhaps egotistic/narcissistic. Make me laugh. Don't tell me how I should vote or why I shouldn't wear fur, or have guns, or drive a Hummer.

Not at all! Actors only know what they read...they go by script....I would prefer NOT to know their political views. Some, who are very outspoken, I used to adore...now, not so much!

since Ellen DeGeneres came out of the closet proclaiming to be a lesbian , I switch channels every time there is a program associated with her.

Same with gay actors.

Well in terms of celebrity like I said it doesn't affect my decision.

But to touch upon something mentioned in this thread, I was talking about food with my co-workers, and I was about to ask if they tried the new lemonade frosty, but was immediately shot down just from mentioning Chick Fil A. My co-workers didn't like Chick Fil A's stance on gays and whatnot, so they refused to patronize the establishment.
