Some folks are conformist control freaks. They're the real problem. It's an emotional defect known as right wing authoritarianism, where any deviation from what they call "the norm" is not only disapproved of, it can result in violence against the perceived nonconformists.
It's carried to an extreme in groups like skinheads, oathkeepers and the like.
Right-wing authoritarianism (RWA) is a personality and ideological variable studied in political, social, and personality psychology. Right-wing authoritarians are people who have a high degree of willingness to submit to authorities they perceive as established and legitimate, who adhere to societal conventions and norms, and who are hostile and punitive in their attitudes towards people who don't adhere to them. They value uniformity and are in favour of using group authority, including coercion, to achieve it
I always find it amusing when people such as yourself wish to lump all sorts of people together with name calling just because you think differently than they do.
While opposition to homosexual and interracial relationships are too very different things, how about trying to understand what some of the reasons might be rather than a liberal knee jerk reaction.
I suspect many parents of any race who oppose interracial relationships for their kids fear it could lead to pregnancy/marriage. That will mean their grandkids will be of a different race, and may wind up being raised with different cultural values, religion, etc.
They also know life will be harder on their kids and future grandkids, so why would any parent want that.
The similarity to homosexuals has at least one common thread in that no parent is going to want their kid to turn out homosexual. The obvious reason is no future offspring. They also know life will be tougher on them as a result.
From there it should not be too hard to extrapolate why society shuns such behavior and hopes that disapproval might stigmatize it enough to curb it. Granted that applies to interracial more than homo because some people are likely born homosexual.
There of course could be other reasons as well. So just because it is not PC to say so, people do have their reasons and cannot just be all lumped together as bigots if you wish to really understand their reason/s.

Problem #1 is using a source like Wiki.
Problem #2 is assuming everyone opposed to the two things are so called right wing. Many minorities and otherwise politically left wing people can oppose the aforementioned.
Problem #3 is classifying people who think differently than you as being a problem or defective in some fashion.
Why do people obsesses over interracial and gay relationship?
This question can apply to anything that is controversial. Most people nowadays like to take a position on just about everything. They are not content with saying "I don't know.... I don't have an opinion on that one way or another." There are a lot of media programs (radio, tv, internet, etc.) that are always stoking the fires of people's feelings and emotions on these issues. Many of them approach these things from a political standpoint, and their followers tend to go along with that particular crowd.

Granted, it's not The Limbaugh Letter.

That appears to be your assumption, since I did not specify "everyone opposed."

Quite an ironic statement, considering the topic of this thread..

Read about the research at the link.
Dispute the findings.
If you want to be taken seriously, never use or expect others to read Wiki as a reliable source. Fortunately many HS & colleges do not allow it for research papers/assignments.
As to a better source, if something is legit, it is easy to find unless people are lazy.
As to my assumption vs. yours, many people who are not right wing by any stretch of the imagination do not approve of either of the threads topics. This includes many left wingers and/or minorities.

Many people do not like living in a world of gray areas and unknowns..... they need things well defined, as in white or black (no shades of gray), right or wrong, good or bad, one way or the other. They were influenced to think that way (rigidly) by those who made an impression on them when they were growing up (could have been a parent, family member, friend, etc.). So they have a need to frame things in a way that will give them a quick and usually self-righteous or judgmental answer.... that's how they have been conditioned. And they are not as open to things as others are. That's why certain pundits have such an appeal to them. They appeal to that conditioning.
