Meh, even Europeans don't get that much vacation time IMO. I only work 6 months out of the year on average, and even that is too much. Year round work seems like it would be prison though. What's the point of even living?
My husband use to do that...he would forgo his vacations - he was basically a workaholic.
Not anymore...he has mellowed out and takes his vacation time.
In the competitive middle-management corporate workplace it can be seen as a sign of weakness and lack of willingness to get ahead. Interestingly enough that seems to wain once one reaches a senior management position...For others (particularly women with children) vacation days are a safety net when sick/personal days run out due to having to miss work when the kids are sick or have school functions that require parental attendance.
