This. If folks have never been around assault rifles without hearing protection, than they really have no idea just how loud and startling it can be. Not to mention if there are IEDs going off around you.

1. Our town is hosting a training session on an "active shooter" scenario in August. I plan to go.
2. Our church recently held a training session on an active shooter scenario in the church. We also have trained personnel who guard the church discreetly during services.
3. I would not try to "put down" an attacker unless I knew I could take him down. But I would not "go gentle into that good night" either. I plan to take additional private self defense courses as well. I took one a long time ago but apparently it's time for a refresher course.
4. My sister in law's company recently held a training session as well, for all employees. It's sad that we have to think seriously about this sort of thing but I do appreciate the opportunities to learn more about self defense.
