Eliminate all the fat in this country, what might happen? All the fat in the government, health care field, the education system, prison industry, US Postal System, insurance industry, etc. Ever give any thought to that?
Where would all these unemployed workers find work?

My guess, it would trigger a revolution! How about you?

Everyone would be dead. Your body requires dietary fats in order to function properly.

Fats are essential to your health.

Now if we were talking about reducing sugar (not eliminating entirely) down by 90+%, THEN we can talk about that.

There is a dichotomy between reality and illusion, as in prosperity versus money.
Money as in "making money" is an illusion based on generations of madness. People really believe that money solves poverty.

If that were true, let us eliminate poverty and the "need for money." Give everyone 22 billion billion quatloos. Everyone is equally wealthy. No one "needs" money so who is going to trade their labor or property for money that they don't need? Even the starving children are fabulously wealthy!

In reality, prosperity is based on the prodigious production, equitable trade and enjoyment of surplus usable goods and services. Doing more with less so more can enjoy is superior to doing less with more so few can enjoy.

Since the volume and value of circulating money tokens has no relationship to the marketplace of goods and services, it is quite foolish to seek remedies based on money instead of prosperity.

Humanity has to first wake up from money madness and the indoctrinated belief that they "need" money. People need to be productive and generate surpluses because that is what civilized people do.

I consider myself part of the Fat! I work in a LTC/Rehab facility, funded by Medicare/Medicaid. But those that don't work in these facilities, and those that work in these places, think we're indispensable, even saintly. Really?

Nope, you'll never meet people working in these facilities being great proponents of euthanasia or physician-assisted suicide.

So we're talking about waste and inefficiency, not "fat".

Yes, eliminating it would put money towards more beneficial uses. Getting this country to wake up and open our eyes to that though won't happen. Even if we did, we'd be unable to get things into gear to move forward with it. We have our own mental and motivational "fat" to deal with, keeping us grounded and unable to do improve. We've become mostly a nation of sloths(!)

We'd all be dead. You can't live without fat. Every cell in your body needs a lipid membrane...

I think the OP was asking what if we eliminated the fat in our government agencies and other places in the private sector where there is redundancy in workers.

I was hoping that Trump being the business man he is was going to take this trimming of the fat from the Gov. like a CEO that just bought out a company and is looking to maximize profits. We all know that the Gov especially the Feds should be made to do more with less. I think Trump had planned on carving up DC but the opposition is too much for even him.

I do think the day is coming where more and more people (the Fat) will be trimmed from many sectors when the use of robotics becomes more wide spread.
Imagine how many will be out of work when autonomous trucks hit the highways.

I don't think we will see a revolution but there will be many people that once had a decent job that will find themselves with nothing to do. I wonder if drug use will skyrocket?

I just spent months in 3 rehabs with this knee mess I've been thru. It was a nightmare but I ended up there as I could NOT walk and it took doctors 2+ months to do an MRI which found the infection.

These rehabs as my neighbor said -- are necessary evils. Many were helpful at the rehabs and some were going thru the motions for a paycheck and I did call some on their attitudes.

In the old days before rehabs and I don't know when that was, people stayed in hospitals for a much longer amount of times....

With the replacement explosion, more and more end up in rehabs after these major surgeries.

Good fats are vital to our well being. Our brains need good fats. Crap is not.

Then there is all the waste in govt. Another topic.

A vicious cycle, people need work...population control?
