The issues we are having have nothing to do with the border. The issues we have are directly related to the failures of many countries within our hemisphere, and our imposing neighbor who has decided to allow their country to become a temporary campground for hordes of illegal immigrants.

I fully realize that Mexico will never voluntarily become part of the U.S., they have a perfect system where they are able to export all of the people they don't want, into the rich neighbors yard, and pass the bill to the American people. Meanwhile, the rich in Mexico get to claim that they are the victims, and the U.S. is just a bunch of racist, greedy people. Then, to top it all off, we have thousands of Americans protesting all over the country about how the poor migrants are being mistreated, and how we should all have compassion and help the poor in need.
No. The last thing we need is more territory. We can't keep up with our current infrastructure. We are not planning now for the water needs of much of the American West.

You are right. If the border moves, the problem will just move with it.

Failure is a tricky word. We, ourselves, fail in many respects.

The immigrants are being treated badly. We should treat people -- even immigrants -- better, although that is not saying that we should let them into the country. But what's going on now is a disgrace. We can't just say we're the kindest, most generous nation in the world...unless we are...and anymore we're not.

I don't understand that last sentence. The ideal would be to install enough tribunals and/or courts to decide immigration cases almost immediately. These are not tough cases; either someone is fleeing persecution or they are fleeing an impossibly bad economic system. The latter does not entitle them to be here. They should not be able to remain long enough to create a baby and thus governmental obligations to citizens.
