Generation Alpha is the one named after Gen Z. One feature is everybody of this gen were born after the start of the 21st century.

Some of the people in this generation will remember life before the pandemic, but otherwise, they get thrusted into such an event. Regardless of whether or not we'll get to a point where social distancing can be lifted sooner or later, this is one thing that'll hit their childhoods.

I think we'll run out of names for generations.

Why does anyone bother naming generations?

The naming of generations seems to be a relatively new thing - that I doubt this will be historically labeled "the Coronavirus generation." history may well be remembered for its tremendous impact on the world and far-reaching effects,... in the same context as the generations of 'the Great Depression, WWI and WWII.

For marketing purposes. It allows businesses to segment their audience when looking at ways to advertise and sell products.

To answer the question. It's too early to tell how things will play out with Covid-19. It may fizzle out soon or it may become a prolonged affair.

^^ This too.
.
People complain about Millennials, but after Baby Boomers, they are the group that pretty much follows them given similarities (Gen X was small compared to those 2). While, Baby Boomers are still around, some of them have died off to old age, and are retired so they may not be so free flowing with their retirement money. Millennials OTOH have already been in the workforce for 5 to 15 years, at least have income, some are in management, started their own companies, and they'll be alive and buying for at least the next 20 years.
