WOW! These blue cities are really trying to out do China when it comes to being authoritarian. Unreal. I bet NYC will follow suit or extended even longer than LA. They have to! They have to be more authoritarian then the next.

This is going to be interesting. I wonder if residents of LA will take this lying down or if there will be some sort of protest and possibly chaos.

It'll be interesting to see how things develop. If a rushed vaccine shows promise by the end of the year, and much of the rest of the country has reopened (while businesses have shut down for good or relocated from cities still closed), we may possibly see a new great migration of sorts.

Shocking that she would do this. She is going to destroy thousands of businesses and lives.

There's debate among the experts on whether or not a vaccine will even be developed!

Businesses and lives have already been ruined.

Read the article. 'Mr Joshua' was referring to the LA county health commissioner. Knowing that the mayor of LA is not a she, I was initially puzzled by that comment myself...then I read the blurb of an article and was enlightened.

The LA County health commissioner. Apparently in California each counties appointed health commissioner can decide how long the lock down continues. Scary to give a unelected person that sort of immense power.

You would think something this important should be decided among a group of elected officials, business leaders and heath experts.

This is why democrats in congress want more helicopter money. They want the rest of the country to keep California afloat for the next several months. I think there is going to be a mass exodus of people from the Los Angeles area to other parts of the country. A reverse Grapes of Wrath.

That's a topic for epidemiologists not economists and certainly not a reason to reopen. They are unsure about immunity, too.

States were slower to shut down than were the cities in some cases and the cities might be more cautious in opening up. There might not be as good a reason for Podunque County to stay locked down but the density in the cities requires it. Shutting down was easy. Reopening is much harder. Trying to present this issue as a political one of Blue vs Red is very stupid.
