I agree with your above statement 100%.

Personally I think the only way an actuall bail-out/stimulus would have worked, would be to give money to the CITIZENS of this country, so that we would have the money to go out an purchase things, therefore bringing up the economy. If that kind of money had been spread among us, the tax-payers, we could apply that to our debt, buying cars, buying homes, etc. But,. instead, these companies have been given generous handouts directly by our government under the assumption that it would help to stabilize, but the companies are using the money in ALL the wrong ways, and still screwing themselves over to bankruptcy!! How could it come to this? What about the poor, deserving people in the country who ACTUALLY deserve a handout? The people who have been working to the grind their whole life, and still cant even come close to what the executives are getting in ONE year!?! It just seems sooo worng to me.

Boy, they sure do not know of have any idea what so ever what is to live in a socialist country...if things are bad now...they will get even worse..and once Socialism gets in, is hard to take out...Just look at Cuba and Venezuela what they are going thru.

Oh, and I agree.

All they are thinking of is their money and power. Some of those creeps in DC never had to sweat paying a bill, or "gee, should I pay the electric bill or the gas bill, cuz I don't have enough money..."

The power just goes to their head like they are mainlining heroin. They can't get enough. Money and Power. Aphrodisiacs of the brain.

They have an orgasm when they pass a bill and know they will have more money to spend.

I agree too.

And with all of the nukes out there, some meglomaniac will want to use them. Since everyone wants what the US has and yet, wants to take us down.

We are like the smart, good looking guy on the block who earned his way up the hard way, and some creep is jealous and wants to take him down.

bizarre, american labor is anti labor. they hate unions.
Can I rephrase that?

American business is anti-union. Which really has nothing to do with unions really. They just want to get the cheapest labor they can get. If they could get a union cheaper than a non-union, they'd be pro-union.

I'm referring to the old adage "socialism for the rich and free enterprise for the poor". Yes, I realize the term, socialism, isn't quite correct here, but I'm sure you get the point. The current administration, like the one that just left office, is not the friend of the worker that Democrats were at one time. As Twain said, one party, the business party, made up of the Democrat's and Republican's. it seems as though the rich were just bellyaching the other day about the "interferrence" from government, today they are lined up on Wall Street to get the taxpayers hard earned cash, that's the kind of re-distribution of wealth they think is OK.

And the people in Venezuela fell in the same trap.

Hugo Chaves was elected in an internationally-observed fair election in which he defeated candidates from other parties. He is allowed to serve two terms. In 2006, he was reelected, freely, by the people of Venezuela, to serve an additional 6 year term. He sought a constitutional amendment that would enable him to serve more than two terms, but it was defeated, so after 2012, he will no longer be able to serve as the elected president of his country. The people will have a vote to elect somebody else. There is no reason to believe that he will not honor that constitutional requirement, because so far, he has done absolutely nothing that has been a violation of the constitution which existed before he became president.

The people of Venezuela are perfectly free to go about their daily lives. the same as in any other Latin American country. There is a document in Venezuela similar to our Bill of Rights, but providing for even more guarantees to the people. Chavez had never violated anybody's rights.

Just so you know, Columbia University in New York was the teacher of Fidel Castro. He did not mold Chavez to stage a revolution and overthrows the government of his country, just like Castro did, because the people of Venezuela wanted Chavez to be their president and they have now elected him twice.

Please tell me where you are getting all this amazing information about Venezuela being just like Cuba?

Chavez has threatened to sanction media outlets that portray him & his administration in a bad light. That alone would be just a pissing contest, but when they make good on those threats, then Chavez & his cronies start looking less like elected officials, and more like shameless dictators.

The U.S. State Department issued a report (available on their website) that states, among other things, that under Chavez regime, government corruption has led to unlawful killings, wrongful arrest & imprisonment & political intimidation. The cherry on top is that Chavez gloats that more than 60% of those questioned (Venezuelan citizens) say they are satisfied with their leadership; and that "our way of socialism is reaching North America".

That still leaves 40% who had the cajones to say they are not satisfied, plus who knows how many in the 60% who felt coerced to say they approve & fear reprisal should they disagree.

Absolutely wrong,, on every single point. There was a violent revolution against Chavez, sponsored the US state department, and supported by one of the TV stations. That station, that supported a violent overthrown of the elected, constitutional government, was allowed to remain on the air more than a year, until its license expired, and then Chavez did not renew the license. The station is still broadcasting, freeely inside Venezuela, but only on satellite and internet. No other media outlet has been interfered with by Chavez. If the same thing had happened in the US during the Bush regime, the station would have been shut immediately, and the management would all have been arrested. So much for your first paragraph.

The US State department is putting out PR releases informing us that Chavez responded to the violent attempted coup against him. More than 60% of Venezuelans were satisfied enough with his ledershop to vote for Chavez' re-election in 2006. (Actually 63%, against 13 candidates, with a 75% voter turnout). Do you expect the US State department to sponsor and foment a revolution in another country, and then praise that government's reaction to the revolution? So much for your second paragraph

Only 40% had the cajones to vote for the other candidate in a free election that was certified as fair by international observers. So much for your third paragraph.

What else have you got?
