Jeez, RV, tell your kids about ED and forget about it. Stop "suppressing the truth in unrighteousness". Tell them where babies come from, too. You do know, don't you?

If you teach them to distinguish lies from truth, instead of just holding your hands over their ears, then lies can't hurt them.

Not to worry ; I was once held captive to the Culture and its alluring philosophies so I know how persuasive it can be for the Ones in here who dont see absolute moral laws as a virtue , like they always have been.

Theres a time to tell kids about E.D. and other issues of sexuality , but not at 4-8 years old. The quote you listed above has to do with suppressing ones moral conscience FOR THE SAKE of living unrighteously. (You and I have gone a few rounds talking about that, havent we JTUR ?)

REPLY: The whole idea behind it , is, to try and safeguard a young childs innocense instead of being unconcerned with the many adult sexual content TV Ads and the likes of Madonna (and others) with her $600,000,000 empire achieved from polluting young girls minds .

It makes no sense to me that you are so devoted to your precious kids but you can't figure out a way to influence them more (as their parents!) than the media you're so scared of. And what exactly are you so afraid is going to happen if they watch these commercials?

REPLY: As you may be aware, Parents only have so much influence (hopefully the majority) where their kids are concerned ; the Media, the public schools, their peers, are all pushing illicit sex down their throats at every turn ...and that, plus the propensity all human beings have toward sin , is most often a recipe for one to suppress thier Parents teaching as well as thier own moral conscience in order to try different things . In fact, it is rampant with adults today in America.

You have a choice to turn off your tv or get rid of it. You also have a choice to raise your children to be the kind of people you can trust to uphold strong values when you are not there. Isn't that the point of parenting?

REPLY: Yes indeed, that is the point in parenting ; but it is not necesarily/entirely the Parents fault if the Child later goes the road of the World . I am very good friends with a family whos Parents tried very hard at raising their kids with strong morals and values, and only ONE out of the 5 now adult children have maintained a desire to live right and disregard what the culture pushes. The other 4 are engaged in illicit sex
and are shacking up . So, despite a Parents best efforts, there are no gaurantees. The Culture is a giant Monster filled with many alluring immoral venues competing with (whats left of) a persons moral conscience.
Ugh. PLEASE learn how to split quotes. It's dead easy. See the tags at the start and the end that are bracketed? All ya gotta do to split up quotes properly is to add the unslashied one at the beginning and the slashied one at the end.

Otherwise, your posts are just an annoying confusion.

Oh please, morality IS SUBJECTIVE. What you consider "moral" is not necessarily what anyone else considers moral. Do you want to be forced to live by MY moral standards rather than your own? NO?! Well then don't force my family to live by yours. It's that simple.

Now as far as the commercials go, why is it so hard to explain them to a kid in KID'S TERMS when they ask embarrassing questions? If my six-year-old came to me and said "Mommy, what's erectile dysfunction?" I would simply say "Sometimes a grown up man can have problems with his penis. It is medicine to help them get better."

Is the six-year-old going to laugh about that? Probably. So what? Six-year-olds laugh about farts and burps and other bodily functions, this is no different. By being evasive and hiding normal life that goes on around kids, you just make these things forbidden and "naughty" and tempting for the child to try to sneak around and figure it out for themselves.

And those kids who have sex and birth control and LIFE hidden from them are the majority of the kids who end up with teen pregnancies and STDs because they haven't been educated correctly on proper birth control and prevention of STDs.

MY kids didn't end up that way. Yours very well could if you continue to be so secretive.

[quote=RVlover;10142724]It is quite ok for them to grow up being Christian, in fact, if they are not...the Culture will most certainly swallow them up ; but as the following research concludes, a drastic 61% of people raised Christian fall away into the sewer philosophies the Culture directly competes for :

Really? Because most of the seriously honorable people I know who uphold the values both you and I deem important are not christian at all. Most of them are Hindu. I know some awesome christians, too, but most of the ones who claim to be I know are hypocrites, through and through.

I agree that children need to know the truth about where babies come from and they need to know that it can be beautiful as well as something that should be done responsibly, such as waiting until marriage to have a child or to have sex at all. I just don't like Viagra commercials.

Let me know if you DONT find hypocrites in ANY segment of society regardless of religious persuasion, ethnicity, career, status, etc... Im not condoning hypocrisy, simply stating that it is a problem of humanity called Sin. Whatever your religious persuasion is, it too is tainted with this vice.

TV ads are playing ...while your child and thier friend are playing Dolls in the same room. This is one of many scenarios. Further, I never said a Parent was helpless to try to look out for thier childs welfare and in fact, I encourage it. Lastly, I cannot give answer to EVERY facet of a Post that you and the many others write on ..but i do try to hit on what i think are main points. Your level of hostility has risen and is unecessary., both to me and others in here.

I never said that I could be with my child 100% of the time. I told you that I knew exactly where and with whom my child is with. I also told you that many parents make it known to other parents vital information such as what channels are allowed to be watched, what games can be played and etc. and so on. If you choose to not know where your 4 year old is at and with whom....SHAME ON YOU! Further, if you can't be bothered to do the minimum, which is to keep the tv on an appropriate channel, and would rather watch tv shows that as an adult you want to watch and you see a commercial that you don't think they should see.........SHAME ON YOU! You can now lock the channels that children have access to. The maximum, which I and other's have done, is to get rid of it. Personally, I have a tv with no cable and no local channels. We watch movies and tv series on dvd that I approve of and play video games. That is hard core and I don't even expect others to do as I have done. My neighbors are the same way.

Here is a fact: This is a capitalist country. You will see that from day one and you will probably see that on the day you die. Sex as an advertising tool has been used for thousands of years in various forms. You don't have to like it. I don't have to like it. There it is. You will not change that. Everything in my argument will be pointed out to you again and again because you have a variety of choices.

This country was founded on the Protestant work ethic, if you do not know what that is then you need to. Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism by Max Weber. A bit dry but you can push through it.

No my hostility has not risen. I'll be damned if I recount my argument for someone who has just shown up on the scene. That is inane as is your attempt to chastise me. Don't do it again.
