That's a really dumb way to get your information. "Duh, I've got this problem, but they haven't advertised a product on the TV yet, so I guess I'll just sit here and suffer from my problem." That's pretty dumb.

I had a problem in my knee (still do) and I had no idea what it was. I didn't wait for a commercial on TV to tell me what my problem was, I RESEARCHED IT. I searched for my problem on the internet and found a forum where about 20 people all had identical symptoms...and were all a minimum of 20 years older than me, thanks to my Pops for giving me these wonderful knees...and discovered that the only solution was surgery.

Any idiot can type into google: "can't get hard" or "penis problems" and within a minute they would find detailed information on anything they could ever need. I don't get why it needs to be advertised. And to me, it's very unethical for a pharma company to PUSH drugs on people. How is it any different than a rasta in the park going to your kids and saying "wanna toke?" It's pushing a drug on people who weren't thinking about it and who weren't seeking it.

BTW, I have no moral problems with sex and TV...I'm more concerned with violence and reality TV and text-typing destroying society than sex on TV...but I do have a problem with evil corporations who live solely by the almighty dollar and who are willing to do very shady things (like releasing Vioxx to the public and murdering thousands) just to turn a profit. ED drugs aren't even supposed to be designed to make you have boners...

This actually happened. She looked up, smiled sweetly, and asked what making a man "larger" meant. Luckily, she has no real knowledge of sex so she assumed it meant "fatter" But the commercial really made me angry. It is much more suggestive than the Viagra commercials and shouldn't be aired during "family" programming.

Of course, I am not just going to pick on these companies because frankly, sex is being used to sell everything from toothbrushes to cheeseburgers these days. It is extremely hard to keep our children innocent when everything involves sex. But that commercial in particular really grates my nerves.
It almost makes you feel that theres a real conspiracy going on to make your young children DE-innocensed , doesnt it ?

REPLY: I trust this doesnt exist in YOUR household !
If I'd been married for 25 years, I would have been a 2 year old groom :-) (oops, just told you my age!)

Trust me, I see the 50+ year old wives of the kind of men who Viagra is targeted towards, I'd certainly need something to get me excited over that!

But yeah, don't you think if every couple in America was having wonderful sex that more than 50% of marriages would actually last?

REPLY: Would you consider The Wheel of Fortune on ABC-TV in the early evening hours, an ok program for young kids to watch with their Parents ?
I consider ABC 7 to be an adult channel. I also consider it programming that is geared towards adults that get off work an hour before that. I also consider this geared towards those that are retired. I have also seen this show on tv's in bars.

REPLY: Very few Parents are willing to shove the TV out of the window from the second story , which perhaps IS the answer with inappropriate adult ads at family time. But of course, theres still bad influential friends, the Radio, Magazines, Billboards, Computer, etc... Its tough times to raise a child in our sex saturated society isnt it ?
Ok, family time......
The world is larger then your family. Just because you have children does not mean that everyone else has made the same choice. Or that others that have children that have grown must now be penalized for your having children. You sound like you have no control when you do. Now, you can make sure that the shows are on children's programming or turn it off. You have control. You have control of the computer. You have control over the radio in your house and in your car. You have control over magazines that come into your house. You even have control over whom your child associates with, especially between the ages of 4 and 8. Your NOT a victim.

REPLY: Aside from the control aspect, what about the mere fact that E.D. Advertisers are brazen enough to come into your own house when if Dad has a problem performing....he can go to his Doctor and talk about it ?
All men are not Dad's. Again, there is more people in the world then your family.

REPLY: I beg to differ ; Time honored respectable morals and values have been replaced with amorality and money-making at any cost.
And what time period are you referring to? Please be specific.

People forget the time element of commercials...meaning three hrs difference from the East to West coast and time in between. Having dinner at 6 PM on the West coast is already 9 PM on the East coast and many small kids are already in bed on school nights.

Also depending on the Network...some stations will have a local advertisement and not the National ad many will see. So many secs are allotted during the hr and each station will have their commercial at the same time break.

Hate it while I'm on the West coast...at 5 PM a movie will come on during my dinner hr while many on the East coast are watching at 8 PM (long after dinner).

I stopped watching those 5 PM movies and they have lost my commercial viewing.

3. How come 20 years ago, or 10 years ago, you never had these sorts of ads on tv ? Should we be required to change our values and morals as times change, or, is it better to remain unchanged ?
amen!

Actually, I am a 76 year old woman. My husband is 83. There are seldom little children in our house , WE are the ones who HATE those ads! We were raised in an age of modesty and decency! If the modern generations think this is a show of advanced wisdom...think again!

There is a simple solution. Stop letting your kids watch TV!

h

I couldnt agree more with you and im just a Whiipersnapper at 55 . Its really amazing and very very sad , how anybody (especially people who are now Parents) that were raised in the 40, 50 and 60's are so brainwashed to be an active Participant in this present degraded culture ...but i talk to them all the time in NewGroups and elsewhere. Its a no brainer how their offspring will turn out.
