I understand that many people are curious about Space exploration. and I have no problem with them making themselves feel better by doing so.---I just don't want to have to pay for their self serving pleasures. Develop new ways to harvest the oceans, and find new, less expensive ways to produce food. (I don't mean just depleting the seas of more fish either). More food is something we could use, and I would gladly support that type of exploration. . But just to satisfy a few individuals curiosity about Space, is not on my top ten things that need our resource and money.

Oh, one more thing - the entire NASA budget makes up about 2% of the federal budget, IIRC. Caring for the elderly (Medicare, social security, etc) makes up about half - twice as much as our entire military budget! Why aren't you railing against THAT truly huge expenditure? What are the elderly contributing?

Send old people into space. Kill two birds with one stone.

Communication networks in orbit are cool by me. and most useful to many Tax payers. Spending Millions to hit the moon with a rocket, to look for ice crystals, is a waste of our money, in my opinion. Living on the moon, would be very expensive, and serve no practical purpose, other than keeping jobs for those select few that make a living off doing those kinds of things.

I believe it was revealed in another recent "disband NASA' thread that NASA's annual budget was $20M. Seems low, maybe it was 20Billion. Still, what does a week of waging war on a foreign country with which we have no legitimate quarrel cost? "Besides sattelites..." So you grudgingly admit sattelites are useful. Well how do they get serviced? That's why I see so many abandoned cars when I happen to go on the freeway, no one maintains anything they just drive it till it stops then moan about how much its going to cost to fix it. What good are billionaires if you can't shake a few million off them every now and theh to keep Pork projects going?? What? It is beyond shameful that some of us want to pull back to Stone Age borders and live like an Agrarian society. Beyond shameful.

Most satellites, don't get serviced. We just send up a new ones. which is why there is so much danger from all of our space junk up there. We have once again developed yet another garbage dump, in space. All in the name of "Exploration and industry" We seem to repeat that habit a lot. Just another reason to not allow Humans to go to other planets. we will just make trash heaps out of them before were are done. There will be butts everywhere in no time flat.

While it certainly seems like a waste of money to hit the moon with missles, NASA and the Areospace Industry has brought us many things that effect your life today, and in the future.
Modern Metals like Titainium, Aluminum, and Stainless just to name a few. The Computer your looking at, all modern and fitting on your lap. The insulation in your house, and countless other things, have been invented, improved or miniturized for the Aerospace Industry...As someone earlier said, it's not so much about space exploration as it is about science..........

Hopefully, by now you have read post #18 and realize the many medical and scientific inventions and discoveries due to NASA.
