I ones heard i person say: loves doesn't really exist, its all about chemical reactions in the brain that bring you closer to another person. a don't agree with him but i wonder how true could it be that we are just evolved animals that put the word love to translate the bond between humans , is it just affection? like other animals? don't we hate like they do? get sad when we lose our mother like most animals do?
most people say animals don't really LOVE , they just like you and have a bond with there keeper.
Lets start with a simple question.
Does love deepens on our souls ? on a spiritual connection? or just a chemical reaction from our brain that comes from the dependency we may have from the "loved" one?
By the way i Love My wife and my baby Boy!!!
Deep personality traits such as love, compassion, empathy, abstract thought, reasoning, rationale, etc...are only possible if they exist in the First Cause of the Universe we live in. Everyone knows that its pretty absurd that such things came ultimately from materials and raw chemicals resulting from a big explosion . Non personality doesnt make anything personal. There is love because the Creator, God, is that essence ..that being, love.
Love is not a drive to reproduction (we already share another one of those with creatures who cannot love), but rather a drive to conform with man's social nature. It is two socially gregarious human beings doing what it takes to preserve the cohesive nature of human society, since man cannot live alone without the cooperation of other humans with whom there is a social bond. So love arises as an irresistible desire to be irresistibly desired.
Also, love is not a one-dimensional, one-size-fits-all feeling. Besides my significant other, Love is what I feel for Mother, baseball, apple pie, and Maggie Gyllenhall.

Love is not to be confused with sexual desires. Love is not exactly an emotion either. I get a tiny bit annoyed when Hugh Grant's movie character spends the night with Julia Roberts' movie character, and suddenly they think they're in love. They may have found something pretty good, but it isn't really love. Love is a kind of psychological/emotional bond, for lack of a better expression, and it takes some time for it to come to pass, if it ever does.
Love shares a trait with pornography in that it is almost impossible to describe exactly what it is... but I know it when I see it.
Call me naive or an idealist, but I still like to think that love does exist in this world, I don't care what 'chemicals' it is. Apparently, the chemicals don't care- I still love my friends, family, dog and partner after knowing this. I like to think of it as the ultimate state of consciousness- some call it God, some call it sex, others call it passion. I do believe in a soul and I think we're all connected, somehow. When we experience that connection on a higher plane, that's when the feeling of love truly happens.
If love is just a chemical somewhere... then why is my body willing to die for some people? Why do some people commit suicide over love? No, it's much more intricate than that.

When you speak of romantic love, what you are really talking about is a mixture of love and lust.
"True" love is something else entirely. I see you are parent - so you know what I mean. I love my wife, but we do not always get along. She loves me too, but both of us know there are limits to what one of us will put up with from the other. An act could be committed (hopefully not) that would lead to us getting divorced. It is possible.
But my daughter? That's a whole different story. People who don't have children, I think, never really experience unconditional love from the giving end.

To me what we call love is a result of a chemical reaction. We are also made to "feel" something towards others in different ways and our chemical composition does lead us to "feel" that way.
There is a part of the brain that if it is damage an individual can become totally uncaring with regards to feelings towards other people. They can become totally like Mr. Spock and deal with everything in terms of simple reasoning with no feelings in making decisions and dealing with people.
Also, as our bodies develop from childhood to puberty we suddenly "feel" love towards another person due to the sexual attraction we now develop. That is the result of chemical changes in our bodies.
Not romantic to see it that way but I believe that is what happens.
Parallel and analagous question: Do my dreams exist?
Last night I dreamed I fell in love. Was it real love?
A dream is a thought in this case while in a less then conscious state. The brain is still active so within that dream you still have the same type of chemical reactions going on in you so a dream does exist becuase it is a thought just as you think while awake.
When you dream you have an erection, and wake up and see you have one, is it real? The same with a feeling whether you dream it or not.
You have a great day.
