Let me first say .... that I think not wasting water is important.

Now ... we have these waterfree urinals in my office. They suck. They are always clogged, smell, etc. Our restrooms are cleaned regularly, and don't get a ton of use.

At what cost are we trying to save water?

"water-free urinals " ?? Gross and very nasty no matter what the makers say.

I have to agree. There was one railroad museum in a swamp that used these to keep from having an expensive septic setup. They were supposedly hygienic, but they were the most foul-smelling gross things I've smelled in a public restroom. I've been in places where they peed on the wall and it smelled better. Give everyone a dixie cup and a lid.

A properly adjusted urinal will use very little water per flush. There are some new toilet models that have two buttons on the back of the toilet. One is for a little flush and the other is for a big flush. If every home used the little button for #1, it would save a lot of water. Women's restrooms will probably have to keep the big flush because they use toilet paper to wipe dry. Come on women, step up and take one for Mother Earth,...use the hand drier instead.

Hand drier in place of TP? And you think women are cranky now??? Not a chance!

I'd just as soon y'all go out and find a tree than have to clean the floor around foul urinal in my bathroom. Nope...there are limits. Dixi cup & lid, go outside and mark your territory, no urinal in a bathroom I have to see. Never gonna happen.

I have used a few here and there, I always assumed it was because the places I used were not properly kept up.

Honestly, I am not surprised as a lot of the new "green inventions" are actually a step backwards in technological progress. They are more of a "compromise" development usually resulting in giving up cost efficiency or effectiveness in the application of the product.

We can't keep this up, its a devolution of progress. I understand the complaints of those who wish more efficient, but it needs to be a demand to the developers that they not only provide what we are used to, but in a manner that fits our expectations.

I think the only reason they put these poor performing products out is because there is such a craze for "green" products, that many people accept inferior products without practical consideration due to fad and hype.

Funny it is, I see the same people who are "green" and hate corporate deviance worshiping at the feet of these companies for essentially handing them inferior products. Without a demand for better, all you get is the short end of the stick.

I'd be happy to do so only if I got a waver so I wouldn't get arrested for indecent exposure. Some women can be just as messy if not more so. There are some women who are afraid to sit on a toilet seat and so they hover above the bowl. Real messy.

More distressing for me are the men who don't know how to lift the seat and have very poor marksmanship skills... even messier. Nothing like going into a public restroom and it looks like a bunch of inconsiderate pigs were turned loose.
