NASCAR had to do some major publicity changes, their fan base was shrinking.

Somehow NASCAR and "green" just don't seem like they belong in the same sentence. Just saying.....Maybe electric cars--

If they could convince their fans that green practices were cool, they'd be doing a lot to help the environment, I think.

Might be something to do with the Darwin Award types it appeals to.

So what about 'legtric race cars?

Maybe 20 -30 laps at Indy, 50 or 60 miles...

After slipping back several positions in the first few laps of the race, Crew Chief Todd Parrott called the No. 9 Stanley Ford into the pits for an air pressure, trackbar adjustments, four fresh tires and fuel during a routine green flag pit stop on Lap 26.

You thinking of swapping batteries?

The battery pack in a Tesla sports car (for example) weighs 992 pounds....

Pondering. You know I still like the Grid Powered Roadway over batteries.

Sort of like slot-less slot cars. As race cars that should be popular with the Joe 6-pack crowd or not? Dunno. Real question, there.

Looked up some Indy Car details on Wiki.

IndyCar Series - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gets into some of the details of Methanol v. Ethanol fuel, as well.

Another site was saying 40 gallons of fuel -- so I guess that is about 6 pounds per gallon for 240 pounds plus the fuel tanks. But that weight tapers down while the car runs.

Could drive the weight WAY Down with Lithium Air batteries, and I think the Electric Motor could weight a fair amount less than the Big V-8, as well.
